Leader to hold school supply drive in support of Moore, Okla.

ORANGE — The Orange Leader will hold a school supply drive starting this Thursday and ending Friday, June 28 to support schools in Moore, Okla.

Leader Editor Gabriel Pruett started work on the drive a few weeks ago and is ready to help our neighbors to the north.

“We all watched as the tornado ripped apart Moore, Okla.,” Pruett said. “It was horrible to see and hear the news coming out of Oklahoma, especially when it involved young kids. Orange County knows all too well what happens when Mother Nature strikes. We decided it was time for us to give back. We had so many people come into our area after Hurricanes Rita and Ike and help us get back on our feet. We should all do the same thing for these students who will need all the help they can get to start the school year this fall.”

Supplies needed are: pencils, pens, notebook paper, folders, rulers, three-ringer binders, glue, colored pencils, glue sticks, erasers, pencil sharpeners, backpacks, computer paper, colored markers and crayons.

“I encourage everyone to participate in this school supply drive to ensure the school students in Moore, Okla. start off next year’s classes on a positive note,” Pruett said. “No donation is too small.”

Donations can be dropped off at The Leader at 841B Dal Sasso Drive in Orange. Dropoff times are during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Please call Pruett at (409)721-2818 for any questions.
