ORANGE — Black History Celebration

The Orange African-American Museum, located at The Ware Plaza, 319 W. Park Ave. in Orange, invites the public to celebrate Black History Month from noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22. Jazz music provided by the Alonzo Williams Trio. The public is invited to view local heroes and pioneer black families who paved the way for the rest of us. Admission is free.



Tuesdays with Morrie

The Orange Community Players present the final showing of “Tuesdays with Morrie” at 2:37 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 23. Cost is $10-$15. Call 409-882-9137 for reservations.

GOALS Spelling Bee

The Greater Orange Area Literacy Services (GOALS) will hold its 15th Annual Spelling Bee fundraiser from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 28, in the Student Center of Lamar State College-Orange. Tickets are $15 and include a light lunch. Teams interested in participating, or those wishing to make a donation or tutor, may call 409-886-4311 for information.



AAUW Book drive

The Orange Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is beginning its annual drive to collect “gently used” books for their scholarship fund. All books, fiction, non-fiction, hardbound or paper back are needed. Also needed are audio and video tapes, CDs, and DVDs. These may be delivered to the Mann Insurance Agency, located at 1505 Park Ave. at 15th Street, during regular business hours. If unable to deliver your donations, you may call 409-886-5739 or 409-886-2194 to arrange for pickup.



Pool Tournament

Benefit for Lexy Bertrand

A benefit event will be held for Vidor teenager Lexy Bertrand, who was killed in a February automobile collision, from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at Woods Pavilion, 141 N. Main in Vidor. Plate lunches, live music, an auction, bake sale and raffle are all scheduled. All proceeds will go to family for expenses



Mighty Pirates 4-H
