ORANGE — Art in the Park

The annual Art in the Park festival will be held from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Saturday, March 22 at Orange Riverfront Pavilion and Boardwalk in downtown Orange. More than 130 vendors will be on site offering a variety of art such as paintings, pottery, woodcarvings, sculptures, jewelry and more. Live music from Britt Godwin at 10 a.m., David Joel at noon, and The Peterson Brothers Band at 2 p.m. Admission is free. No coolers, pets or dogs are allowed. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.



Le Grand Bal

Lamar University invites the public to its Le Grand Bal: “An Evening of Art,” a black-tie event at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 22 in the Montagne Center in Beaumont. Tickets are $150 per person. Public Hearing

Orange County Judge will hold an Administrative Public Hearing at 1:30 p.m., Monday, March 24, in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Orange County Administration Building, 123 S. 6th Street in Orange. The purpose of the public hearing is granting a Mass Gathering Permit to the Mauriceville Crawfish Festival for Friday, April 11, 2014 - Sunday, April 13, 2014 The public is invited.



Commissioners Court

Orange County Commissioners Court will hold a special court session at 2 p.m., Monday, March 24, in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Orange County Administration Building, 123 S. 6th Street in Orange. The public is invited.



City Council meeting cancelled

The Monday, March 24, 2014 meeting of the West Orange City Council has been cancelled. The next Regular Session of Council will convene at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2014.



Veterans Recognition

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2775 will hold a Veterans Recognition program at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 24 at the VFW Hall, 5303 N. 16th St. in Orange on events during the Kosovo Campaign. The program will open with a short talk on events leading up to and about the campaign by Commander Jim Seales, followed by a slide show by John Clark. The public is invited to attend.



Team Captain meeting

The American Cancer Society would like to invite you to the next Orange County Relay For Life Team Captain meeting at 5:45 p.m., Monday, March 24, at Lamar State College-Orange in the Wilson Building in Room 101. T-shirt fundraiser

Friends of the Orange Depot are selling T-shirts as a fundraiser for saving the depot. The shirts are available at Lookin Good Salon, 3711 N. 16th St. in Orange and at Gifts Etc., located inside Baptist Hospital Orange at 608 Strickland Drive. Cost is $20.



Vidor TOPS Chapter

The Vidor Chapter of TOPS meets at 7 p.m., every Monday, at First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Main in Vidor. Weigh-in is from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

The Faith United Methodist Women of Faith United Methodist Church, 8608 MLK Drive in Orange, invite the public to its weekly Lenten Lunch Speaker Series from noon to 1 p.m., every Wednesday during Lent continuing March 26, April 2 and April 9. Managing  Pests in Bee hives

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension of Orange County is holding a free class in Managing Pests in Bee Hives. This will support a stronger bee hive with more honey production. The class will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 27 in the AgriLife Extension Office. If interested please call the office at 409-882-7010 and let us know so we can plan for the class materials.



Art Classes

Art classes for the Port Arthur Art Association are held from 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., every Friday at the Texas Artists Museum, 3501 Cultural Center Drive, near the Bob Bower Civic Center. Shirley Peel will instruct classes will March 28, April 4, April 11, April 25, and May 2. No class will be held on April 18. The cost is $4 for members, and $5 for non-members. The Knights of Columbus Orange Council No. 1680 will hold a fish fry from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., every Friday, during Lent at St. Mary Church Parish Hall at Cherry Avenue in Orange. Meal includes 3 piece fried or baked fish for $8 or 2 piece for $7 plus fries, cole slaw, sauces, tea, water and dessert. The public is invited.

St. Francis of Assisi Knights of Columbus Council 13825 is selling fish dinners in the San Damiano Center, behind the church, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., every Friday, during Lent through April 11 at 4300 Meeks Drive in Orange. Cost is $8 and includes two pieces of fish, French fries, hush puppies, cole slaw, drink and dessert. Available for dine in or carryout.

Bloomin’ Crazy Plant Sale

The Orange County Master Gardener Association of Orange will hold its annual Bloomin’ Crazy Plant Sale from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, March 29 at Jewel Cormier Park, 8235 FM 1442 in Orangefield. A variety of plants from annuals, perennials, Texas SuperStars, Natives, vines, butterfly, house plants, tropicals, lilies, citrus, shrubs, trees, vegetables including herbs and a huge selection of tomato and pepper plants. There will be many hard-to-find plants also available. Vendors selling bonsai plants, and unique gifts will be available along with a composting demonstration booth, Master Gardeners to answer horticulture related questions and a garden flea market.
