ORANGE — Trussell benefit
A benefit for Carl “Bub” Trussell, a heart transplant patient, will be held from noon - 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, at Cotton’s Cay in Orange. BBQ plates are $8 and include brisket, sausage, potato salad, baked beans, bread, onions and pickles. A live auction will be held, as will a 50/50 drawing, and raffle items are available. Live music will be provided by Choctaw from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
The Bridge City Heritage Festival will be held from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Bridge City Community Center and surrounding grounds. The carnival will also be held from 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28.
Little Brig Camp
The Vidor High School Brigadettes will hold a Little Brig Camp from 9 a.m. - noon, Saturday, Sept. 29, at Vidor Elementary for girls in grades kindergarten through sixth. Cost is $30 per child. Show-offs at 11:30 a.m.
Saturday Adventure Series
Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center, 2111 W. Park Ave. in Orange, will hold its Saturday Adventure Series, at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29. “Wild and Rich Wetlands” is a family program presented by Kaycee Dortch and will aid visitors in discovering critters that live in the swamp mud. Operation Kid Safe
Mike Bott’s safety team will be at Cecil Toyota, 2500 I-10 West in Orange, on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, to fingerprint and photo all of the children. We will have the fire department with a truck, police department and the sheriff’s department with cars, safety tips and even some gun-handling safety tips. The mechanical robot (SPARKY) will make a guest appearance.
