ORANGE — Community Needs Grants

The Service League of Orange is currently accepting applications for its Community Needs Committee to encourage projects and events which promote and benefit the entire Orange County area. Verification of a non-profit 501-c3 status must accompany the Community Needs application. Applications may be obtained by calling Carolyn Lemons at 409-670-1839 or Rosemary Higgins at 409-735-6472 or e-mail info@serviceleagueoforange.com. Deadline to submit applications is Friday, Oct. 1.

Thrift and Gift

Thrift and Gift, located at 350 37th St. in Orange, has many new items from vendors and donations including antiques, glass pieces, vintage and new jewelry, and an assortment of birdhouses and other wood pieces. Call 409-886-7649 for info.

Hunter Education Safety Class

Texas Parks and Wildlife hunter Education Safety Class Field part will be taught from 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 22, Class is not just for hunters, but anyone who handles a firearm. You must complete online home study computer sections, print completed tests and bring to class. Call Danny Odom at 409-883-8118 to register.

Holiday in the Park booth registration

The City of West Orange is accepting booth registration for Holiday in the Park scheduled for Sat. Nov. 2, 2013. Deadline to confirm a booth space is Fri., Oct. 11, 2013. Applications for registration and a site map are on the city’s website at www.cityofwestorange.com

Farmers Market

A Farmers Market is now available starting at 8:30 a.m., every Saturday, through November at Rocking R Farm and Ranch, 2772 State Highway 12 in Vidor. Vendors are welcome and there is no charge for booths. Call 409-422-4184 for information.

OC Farmers Market

The Orange County Farmers Market is open twice a week through November from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m., Saturdays, and 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Wednesdays, in the parking lot of Big Lots on MacArthur Drive in Pinehurst. Items available include fresh seasonal produce, jams and jellies, pickles, and fresh eggs, as well as a large variety of yard plants and house plants, homemade baked goods and homemade granola.
