ORANGE — Ash Wednesday

First United Methodist Church, 502 N. Sixth St. in Orange, will hold Ash Wednesday services at noon, and at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, March 5 in the Slade Chapel. Soup will be served in the Welcome Center at 12:30 p.m. and in the Praise Center at 5:30 p.m.



Ash Wednesday Meal and Service

St. Mark Lutheran Church, 945 W. Roundbunch in Bridge City, invites the public to enjoy a potluck meal at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, followed by its service at 7 p.m. We are a small church but great in faith and love. Please join us.



Parkinson Awareness

Orange County Parkinson Awareness Support Group will meet at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, at St. Francis Cathloic Church Hall, 4300 Meeks Drive in Orange. Art and Photography Show

The Nederland Heritage Festival Art and Photography Show sponsored by the Nederland Art Guild will be from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at the Texas Artists Museum, 3501 Cultural Center Drive in Port Arthur, near the Bob Bowers Civic Center. You may enter paintings and photography from 9 a.m. until noon. After noon, the entries will be judged and available for viewing. You must pick them up at 5 p.m. Ribbons will be awarded in all categories. 



AAUW Book drive

The Orange Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is beginning its annual drive to collect “gently used” books for their scholarship fund. All books, fiction, non-fiction, hardbound or paper back are needed. Also needed are audio and video tapes, CDs, and DVDs. These may be delivered to the Mann Insurance Agency, located at 1505 Park Ave. at 15th Street, during regular business hours. If unable to deliver your donations, you may call 409-886-5739 or 409-886-2194 to arrange for pickup.



Fundraiser luncheon

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 803 N. 28th St. in Orange, will hold a fundraiser luncheon on Thursday, March 6. Order must be placed by 5 p.m., Wed., March 5. Cost is $8 and meal includes meatballs and gravy over rice, corn, butter beans, bread and cookie. Available for dine-in, carryout or delivery for two or more orders. Fish dinners

The Knights of Columbus Orange Council No. 1680 will hold a fish fry from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m., every Friday, during Lent at St. Mary Church Parish Hall at Cherry Avenue in Orange. Meal includes 3 piece fried or baked fish for $8 or 2 piece for $7 plus fries, cole slaw, sauces, tea, water and dessert. The public is invited.



Fish dinners

The Senior Choir of El Bethel Church, 704 N. 12th St. in Orange, will hold its annual Fish Fry from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., Friday, March 7. Cost is $8 and meal includes southern fried fish, dirty rice, green beans, potato salad, bread, cake and drink. Deliveries available for orders of three or more. Lenten Fish finners

The Knights of Columbus will offer fish dinners from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., every Friday during Lent through April 11 at the Bridge City KC Hall on West Roundbunch, adjacent to St. Henry Catholic Church. Cost is $8 and includes fried fish, French fries, cole slaw and hush puppies. Available for dine-in or take out. Delivery available for orders of 10 or more. Pool tournament

The Fraternal Order of Eagles. Aerie 2523, located at 803 N. 28th Street, Orange, Texas host a pool tournament each Friday beginning at 8 p.m. The community is invited to come meet the members of Aerie 2523 and join in the fun. For more information leave a message after 4 p.m. at 409-886-7381.



Benefit for Lexy Bertrand

A benefit event will be held for Vidor teenager Lexy Bertrand, who was killed in a February automobile collision, from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at Woods Pavilion, 141 N. Main in Vidor. Plate lunches, live music, an auction, bake sale and raffle are all scheduled. All proceeds will go to family for expenses.



Retired teachers

Retired Teachers of Orange County will meet at 11 a.m., Monday, March 10 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 37th St. in Orange. Carolyn Williams will present a program on how to create birdhouses. Guests are welcome.



Vidor TOPS Chapter

The Vidor Chapter of TOPS meets at 7 p.m., every Monday, at First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Main in Vidor. Weigh-in is from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.
