Blue Santa registration begins Oct. 1

VIDOR — Christmas is less than three months away but Blue Santa is not waiting.

The Vidor Police Department’s Blue Santa program will begin accepting applications for Christmas assistance this Tuesday, Oct. 1. The deadline to submit applications is at 5 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1 at the Vidor Police Department, 695 E. Railroad in Vidor.

“It’s that time of year again where we start thinking about Christmas,” said Sgt. Aleta Cappen of the Vidor Police Department. “Santa’s elf has dropped off the Blue Santa registration forms and we will have them available in the lobby for parents of children living in the Vidor Independent School District.”

The program will provide assistance for Christmas to parents for children between the ages of new born and 12-years-old. Applications are available in the lobby of the police department.

According to Cappen, along with proof of residency within Vidor ISD boundaries, such as a utility bill, other requirements include a birth certificate or Medicaid card or other official form which indicates guardianship or custodial parentship of the child or children being registered.

Applicants are asked to retain a copy of the pre-registration form in order to receive toys at the giveaway which will be held in early December.

Toy drop-off locations will be made available as the holiday season progresses. Call the Vidor Police Department at 409-769-4561 for more information.
