Service League Follies
The Service League of Orange will hold its 2014 Follies fundraising event at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17 and Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Lutcher Theater in Orange. Tickets are $10-$20 at www.lutcher.org or by calling 409-882-7290 or 409-886-5535.
AAUW Book drive
The Orange Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is beginning its annual drive to collect “gently used” books for their scholarship fund. All books, fiction, non-fiction, hardbound or paper back are needed. Also needed are audio and video tapes, CDs, and DVDs. These may be delivered to the Mann Insurance Agency, located at 1505 Park Ave. at 15th Street, during regular business hours. If unable to deliver your donations, you may call 409-886-5739 or 409-886-2194 to arrange for pickup.
VISD Health Fair
Vidor ISD Community Education will host its annual health fair from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18 at Vidor Middle School, 2500 State Highway 12 in Vidor. Vidor TOPS Chapter
The Vidor Chapter of TOPS meets at 7 p.m., every Monday, at First United Methodist Church, 501 N. Main in Vidor. Weigh-in is from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.

Green Thumb series
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office is holding the first Green Thumb series of 2014 starting at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21 for 4 weeks with all class dates also on Jan. 28, Feb 4, and Feb 11. Topics will include: Sprouts, Shoots, and Roots; Planning and Preparing your Garden Area; Structures for Planting Year Around; Thrillers, Spillers, and Fillers—Container Gardening; and Spice Up Your Life with Herb Gardening. Vidor City Council will only have one meeting in December and that is at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23, at City Hall, 1395 N. Main St. in Vidor. The public is invited to attend.
BCHS Alumni meeting
The Bridge City High School Alumni Association will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23 in the cafeteria of Bridge City High School. The public is invited.
Tomato Grafting class
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office is also holding a Tomato Grafting class. Come learn how to graft tomatoes to help them be disease resistant. The root stock that will be used is resistant to the 8 common soil borne diseases for tomatoes. All tomato varieties can be grafted including your favorite. We will be using the varieties Super Fantastic, Celebrity and Sweet 100. After plants “heal” you will get to take them home to plant and enjoy. This class will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 23. Catholic Schools Week
St. Mary Catholic School, 2600 Bob Hall Road in Orange, invites the public to celebrate Catholic Schools Week with an Open House event from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26. Students in attendance will be entered into drawing for an iPad. Knights of Columbus will serve hot dogs, chips and drinks with “Sun”daes for dessert. Lunch will be served starting at 1 p.m.; tour classrooms from 1:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.; activities in gym and iPad winner announced.
VFW Recognition program

Relay for Life
Orange County Relay for Life Team Captain meeting is set for 5:45 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27 at Lamar State College Orange Wilson Building in Room 101.
