ORANGE — Rummage sale

The Friends of the Bridge City Public Library are taking for donations for the rummage sale that will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 in the library expansion. All funds from the sale will be used for the completion of the empty expansion. To date, the Friends have raised funds for the next phase, which will be air conditioning and cabling. If anyone has something to donate for the huge rummage sale, they are asked to bring it to the Bridge City Public Library located at 101 Parkside Drive in Bridge City during normal library hours. Hours are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday is late night open from 1 p.m. - p.m. and Friday only from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Health Fair

A Health and Affordable Care Fair will be held from 10 a.m. - noon, Saturday, Nov. 9 at Lamar State College-Orange. There will be flu shots, screenings, information about ACF agencies, refreshments and more. There will also be face painting and other activities for children.

Bookkeeping 101

A “Bookkeeping 101” course will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, which will cover essential accounting tools that every business should explore. You will leave this seminar with an understanding of the basic accounting process of business. Presenter is Ana Pereda, MBA, Small Business Advisor. Register and pay online at www.lamar.edu/sbdc

Retired teachers

Retired Teachers of Orange County will meet at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 401 37th St. in Orange. Guest speaker is Scott Hasty of Scott’s AFlorist. Dallas Mullins, with Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA), will offer information on TRTA Endorsed Benefits for members. 2013-2014 Membership Directories will be available.

Retired Senior Citizens

The Orange County Retired Senior Citizens will meet at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11 at The Salvation Army Bldg. on MLK and Strickland. We will have a report from the Christmas Party Comittee. Please bring a covered dish for the noon meal. We are still collecting soaps for Orange Christian Services. All seniors are welcome to attend. Call 409-883-6161 for more info.
