ORANGE — Beading Class

Vidor ISD Community Education will host a beading class from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7 in the Vidor Elementary cafeteria. During the first session, participants will learn to make earrings, and during the second, a necklace. Fee for the class is $35, with a $20 supply fee payable to the instructor at the first class time. Plate lunch fundraiser

American Legion Post 49, 108 Green Ave. in Orange, will hold a plate lunch fundraiser from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7. Cost is $8 and meal consists of brisket, link, beans, potato salad, bread and dessert. Walk-in’s welcome and delivery available. OC Democratic Party

The Orange County Democratic Party will hold an executive committee meeting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7 at Robert's Meat Market and Steakhouse, 3720 W. Park St. in Orange.



LU Investiture

The investiture of Kenneth R. Evans as the 15th President of Lamar University, will take place Thursday, Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. in the Montagne Center. Join Texas State University System Chancellor Bryan McCall, members of the TSUS Board of Regents, state and local dignitaries, LU faculty, staff, alumni, students and the greater Southeast Texas community in celebration of the official transfer of leadership. Life is a Cabaret

Friends of the Triangle AIDS Network invite supporters to come to the “Cabaret” for TAN’s annual Paint the Town Red gala Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Beaumont Country Club. Festivities begin with a champagne-cocktail reception, hors d’oeuvres and silent auction at 6:30 p.m. The live auction begins at 7:15 p.m., with a buffet at 8 p.m. and the live auction to resume as guests continue dining. The Innovators will provide music for the event. Dress is after-five. Proceeds support client services and educational efforts of TAN. Reservations are $90 per person. ($900 per table of 10) or $1,400 ($175 per person) for Dress Circle seating at a premium table for eight. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Joseph & Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Campaign Kickoff

Candice Conroy Steele is hosting a campaign kickoff 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 at Jewel Comier Park, FM 1442 in Orangefield. Casino Trip

The members of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority are sponsoring a charter bus trip to Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, La., on Saturday, Nov. 9. Open House

Thrift and Gift Shop, located at 350 37th St. in Orange, will hold its annual Open House from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9. Volunteers and vendors have been busy making handmade, one-of-a kind items to decorate your home for the holidays. Homemade baked items will be available. This year the non-profit organization celebrated its 40th year in Orange.

The Bridge City-Orangefield Rotary Club meets at noon, every Thursday, at the Bridge City Community Center.



Heroines of Jericho

The Heroines of Jericho will hold its monthly meeting at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8 at Gate City Masonic Lodge No. 31, 1017 Mill at John St. in Orange. All Heroines and Knights are asked to be present.



Pool Tournament

Rummage sale

The Friends of the Bridge City Public Library are taking for donations for the rummage sale that will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 in the library expansion. All funds from the sale will be used for the completion of the empty expansion. To date, the Friends have raised funds for the next phase, which will be air conditioning and cabling. If anyone has something to donate for the huge rummage sale, they are asked to bring it to the Bridge City Public Library located at 101 Parkside Drive in Bridge City during normal library hours. Hours are Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday is late night open from 1 p.m. - p.m. and Friday only from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.



Health Fair

A Health and Affordable Care Fair will be held from 10 a.m. - noon, Saturday, Nov. 9 at Lamar State College-Orange. There will be flu shots, screenings, information about ACF agencies, refreshments and more. There will also be face painting and other activities for children.



Bookkeeping 101

A “Bookkeeping 101” course will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 11, which will cover essential accounting tools that every business should explore. The Orange County Retired Senior Citizens will meet at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11 at The Salvation Army Bldg. on MLK and Strickland. We will have a report from the Christmas Party Comittee. Deweyville High School seniors and their parents are requested to attend a meeting in the Cafetorium from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12. The Gift of Life will welcome the Men Against Cancer Prostate Cancer support group for a meeting at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 680 Calder in Beaumont for a discussion about the Affordable Health Care Act & Medicare. Master Gardeners
