Business Development Week begins Tuesday

BEAUMONT — Southeast Texas Economic Development Foundation offers local businesses an opportunity to attend seminars Tuesday, April 8 - Thursday, April 10 at Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza, 3950 Interstate 10 South at Walden Road in Beaumont.

Orange County Economic Development, The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce, Vidor Chamber of Commerce and the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce are among the regional partners for the event.

“It takes a village,” Executive Director of Orange County Economic Development Corporation Bobby Fillyaw said. “The worse that will happen is you will get a little bit of information. The best that will happen is your business will be better for it.”

One seminar, “It takes a village” to land a prospect: The process of project placement is focused on broadening the perspective of those interested in economic development success.

“The seminar will give a behind the curtain look at how economic development groups, site consultants and businesses on how deals are made,” Fillyaw said. “There are thousands of proposals for grants and this will show not how to get in but what they look for to kick you out.”

Ida Schossow, president of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce said the event is about helping the local businesses.

“This is an opportunity for businesses to attend seminars they would otherwise have to travel to Dallas or Austin to attend,” Schossow said.
