Marissa Anderson, Family and Consumer Science teacher at Vidor High School, invited two guest speakers from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), Kathy Hernandez and Dani Simien, to speak to students at the school recently. Kathy is the mother of Casey Hastings, who died as a result of making the choice to drive drunk in 2007. Dani Simien was Casey’s victim. Casey hit Dani, which resulted in him being paralyzed from the waist down. Dani told his personal account of his experience after the accident. The VHS students were very impressed by their touching story. Pictured, in front, are Dani Simien and Tyler Ebarb. In back are CTE teacher Marissa Anderson, Kathy Hernandez from MADD, Colby Clark and Carlos Guitierrez.
