I am proud to announce that I am seeking re-election as your County Treasurer of Orange County. I attended school in Orange County through Junior High then moved to Beaumont where I graduated. I attended Chenier Business College where I received a certificate in Business Accounting and Office Management. I have a 13 year old daughter that attends Orangefield Junior High. My daughter and I reside in McLewis where I have lived for over 30 years.

My qualifications prior to my employment with Orange County include twenty years of payroll and office management. My entire 16 year career with Orange County has been in the Treasurer’s Office.

I began as an Assistant Payroll Deputy then promoted to Payroll Deputy. I served as Chief Deputy Treasurer under previous County Treasurer for 5 years. I was elected as County Treasurer in 2010. I began my elected position in 2011 to serve a 4 year term then re-elected for my second term that began in 2015.

I hold a certification through the County Treasurers Association of Texas as County Treasurer and as County Investment Officer through the Texas Association of Counties. I have over 550 credited hours of continued education to maintain these certifications. I maintain the statutory requirements of the Texas Government Code of the Public Funds Investment Act.

I am a member of all of the Chamber of Commerce organizations of Orange County. I serve as an ambassador to the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce. I serve as a member of the Orange County Bail Bond Board and oversee the collateral for the Bail Bondsmen.

The Office of County Treasurer serves as the bank for the county and as such, receives all money from County Fee Officers, disburses all revenues and payables upon directives from Commissioners Court, reconciles bank statements to ensure accuracy, purchases investments, prepares payroll and all supporting reports including but not limited to employee W-2’s. Also this office is responsible for the reporting and filing of State Criminal and Civil fees with the State Comptroller’s Office.

Orange County is my home and I am very proud to be a member of this community. I will continue to manage my office utilizing the same efficient policies and procedures that have been the hallmark of the Orange County Treasurers Office. I look forward continuing to serve as your Orange County Treasurer for another 4 year term.

Vote to Re-Elect: Christy Khoury, County Treasurer in the Republican Primary March 6, 2018.
