Lady Bears rally to down Silsbee to win 22-4A crown

SILSBEE — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears claimed the District 22-4A volleyball crown Tuesday night with a hard-fought comeback against the Silsbee Lady Tigers.

The Lady Bears (9-1) found themselves down two games to none but rallied back to notch a 18-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-16, 15-8 victory to seal the title.

Last year the Lady Bears shared the co-title with Silsbee.

Hamshire-Fannett (8-2) finishes second in the district while Silsbee (5-5) is third. Orangefield (4-6) and Bridge City (4-6) will have to play each other again for the final playoff seed.

The Lady Tigers simply had no answer for LC-M’s Ally White Tuesday night.

White dominated at the net, ripping off 18 kills to go along with a stunning 10 blocks while adding nine digs and four aces.

Kaitlin Avery notched nine kills, 18 digs and two aces. Renna Toomey and Chelsea Perry each had a superb all-around match. Toomey collected five kills to go along with a whopping 36 digs and ate up Silsbee with eight aces. Perry was strong at the net with eight blocks, six kills and 11 digs.

Kayla Dominjguez dazzled by setting up the offense with 43 assists while adding 13 digs. McCartney Miller collected 23 digs. Raley Broussard had 14 digs and six kills. Morgan Weaver contributed six digs and four assists while Asjah Harper-Kelly had four digs and two aces.
