Mustangs ranked No. 1 in region in THSCA preseason poll

The Texas High School Coaches Association regional preseason football polls were released this week, sponsored by theathleticsdepartment.com.

The two-time defending Class 4A Division II state champion West Orange-Stark Mustangs (16-0) were ranked No. 1 in 4A Division II Region III.

The Mustangs are followed by Giddings (11-3), Bellville (10-3), Liberty (10-3), Hardin-Jefferson (7-4), Robinson (9-3), Lorena (8-4), Salado (7-5), Shepherd (7-3) and LaGrange (4-6).

In Class 4A Region III Division I the defending District 10-4A Division I champion Bridge City Cardinals (9-3) are ranked No. 6 while Silsbee (6-5) is No. 9 and Navasota (2-9) 10th.

Defending 4A Division I state champion Carthage (13-2) is ranked No. 1 in the region followed by the likes of Henderson (11-2), Kilgore (7-5), Stafford (9-5), El Campo (11-1), Bridge City, Bay City (7-5), Houston North Forest (9-3), Silsbee and Navasota.

In Class 5A Region III Port Neches-Groves (11-2) was ranked No. 6 while Port Arthur Memorial (11-2) chimed in at No. 8. Manvel (13-1) was No. 1 followed by Cedar Park, Temple, College Station, Fort Bend Marshall, PN-G, Crosby, PAM, Magnolia and A&M Consolidated.

In the Class 3A Division I Region III poll, Woodville (10-2) is No. 6, Kirbyville (8-4) is at No. 8 and Coldspring (5-6) is No. 9. Cameron Yoe (11-3) is sitting at No. 1.

The Newton Eagles (13-1) are ranked No. 1 in Class 3A Division II Region III with Crockett (10-3) at No. 4 and Corrigan-Camden (5-6) at No. 8.

San Augustine is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A Division I Region III.

Evadale (10-2) is ranked No. 5 in Class 2A Division II Region III.

In Class 6A, Katy (10-3) is ranked No. 1.
