Man charged with failure to carry sex offender ID

PRESS RELEASE — On April 15, 2016 at 7:45 a.m. Police Officer Shannon Veillon of the Lake Charles Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Nissan Sentra at the intersection of Enterprise Boulevard and Prien Lake Road. Officer Veillon spoke with the driver, later identified as Darrell Quinton Lee Allen, 43. Allen presented a Louisiana sex offender driver’s license with an address on Kirby Street, Sulphur LA and a Louisiana sex offender ID with an address on David Street, Iowa LA. Darrell Allen told Officer Veillon that he now lives at 147 Abshire Road in Starks LA. Detective Nicosia with the Lake Charles Police Department Sex Offender Registry arrived at the traffic stop. Detective Nicosia verified Allen is registered with Beauregard Sheriff’s Office but he has failed to update his sex offender identification and driver’s license.  Darrell Allen was arrested for failing to update his Sex Offender Identification. Allen was booked at the Lake Charles Police Detective Division and transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center for confinement.  Judge Robert Wyatt placed a bond of $5,000.00 on the arrest warrant. Darrell Allen was convicted in 2000 for Indecency with a Child. Allen’s victim was a 3-year old female. Allen is a Louisiana Tier 3 Sex Offender requiring him to register for Life.
